The origin of the name
Lodovico Manin last Doge of Venice 1726-1802
Wood is a living material that adapts over time to conditions and situations; it is a precious material and if ancient, it carries with it memories of the time passed.
Ancient wood with its grain, colors, and unique characteristics is able to evoke memories and arouse emotions as only authentic and quality things can do. For these reasons, we thought of giving it a second chance by constructing some examples of Adirondack garden chairs from the spruce wood beams from the renovation of an old Venetian palace owned by an ancient patrician family.
For this reason, we have named these chairs:
Adirondack del Doge
Enhancing the signs of time and where possible, the craftsmanship of the era.
Unique pieces that carry with them a wealth of history.
Presumably, the spruce wood with which they are made dates back to the 17th century and was part of the palace's floor and came from the Cansiglio Forest from which the Republic of Venice sourced its timber.
From the reclaimed wood from the ancient beam of the attic, after sectioning and a careful selection of the most suitable boards to be used in our Adirondack del Doge, the wood is treated for woodworm, planed, sanded, and cut. After obtaining all the components of our chair, their processing and finishing of the over 40 pieces begin, which once assembled
will bring our Adirondack to life. Where necessary, they are assembled with Aisi 316 stainless steel screws and bushings. In other cases, with wooden dowels and marine-use glue. This Adirondack chair is imposing given its dimensions: Seat width 53 cm - Armrest outer width 84 cm - Ground length 110 cm - Backrest height 110 cm
This Adirondack chair, so unique, is made to order and the wood material with which it is produced depends on availability at the time.
To make these Adirondack chairs of the Doge even more special, we have protected them with a special varnish called "Riva Effect" because it is the same as the famous Riva Yachts
This is achieved through a long and laborious process, which not only protects our Adirondack chair but also gives it a unique mirror effect.
The result? An American-style armchair but of Italian craftsmanship with a nod to the oldest traditions. Given the particularity of the wood used, despite the protective treatment, it is recommended for use in sheltered environments. Porch, veranda, winter garden.
